I try to use as few ingredients as possible in my products. But very early on I learnt that when people pick up a soap or hand cream, the first thing they do is smell it. So I’ve taken to adding small amounts of essential oils to some of my products. But firstly a few words of advice:
Most essential oils are safe and free of adverse side effects when used properly. However, as with any substance you are introducing into your body, it is important to use them intelligently.
It’s important that you never eat or drink essential oils.
If you’re using a soap or other product that contains an essential oil that you haven’t used before do a patch test.
Apply a little of the cream to your inner elbow before using elsewhere on your body, especially sensitive areas!
Adverse effects can include rashes, itching, and irritation of the skin. Allergic reactions include watery eyes, sneezing, and inflammation.
Do not use essential oils if you are pregnant.
